APT MISSION

At Anderson Pediatric Therapy, our mission is to provide high-quality speech-language and feeding therapy services to the pediatric population in order to enhance their verbal/non-verbal communication and feeding skills using evidence-based assessment and treatment methods. This includes giving personalized attention to the evaluation, treatment, and education we provide, continuing our professional education, advocating for those with disabilities, and helping clients reach their maximum potential.

MY STORY
​

April Anderson, MA, CCC-SLP, IBCLC is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the DC metro area. She has experience working with children with a variety of speech and language disorders, although she has a special interest in children with feeding disorders.

 

April has worked with infants and children of all ages both at home and in the clinic with feeding and swallowing issues such as accepting different textures, transitioning to solids, oral motor difficulties, and children diagnosed with tongue ties, as well as infants with special needs like cleft palate, feeding tubes, autism, and children with Down syndrome. 

 

April is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and helps educate and support families with a variety of breastfeeding needs. She has been published in the Washington Parent magazine and written for the American Speech Language Hearing Association’s (ASHA) Leader magazine and blog. She is a previous ASHA Conference presenter, and guest lecturer at area universities. April is also an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and helps educate and support families with a variety of breastfeeding needs.

April grew up in Louisiana and is a graduate of Louisiana State University (GEAUX TIGERS) who hopes to help all families "Let the good bites roll!"

MY STORY
​

Kim is thrilled to be joining the Anderson Pediatric Therapy Team as a Clinical Fellow. Kim graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language/English Interpreting. She earned her Masters in Speech Language Pathology from Gallaudet University in 2022. Kim is passionate about providing speech, language and feeding therapy for all children from birth through high school. She received specialized training pursuing a graduate clinical placement with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program at Boston Children's Hospital. Kim has completed the 52 hour Lactation Counselor Training Course through the Healthy Children's Project and is in the process of becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor. To supplement her Speech Language Pathology clinical skills, Kim continues to take additional training in Maternal and Child Health. As a bilingual provider, she looks forward to providing  services accessible in both English and American Sign Language for families in the DMV area.
